Mood Rings

Mood Rings are made up of metal and ornamented with imitation gemstone which is generally made of glass or quartz and it is actually either a clear capsule which is filled with liquid crystals or a clear solid object having a thin sheet of liquid crystals and sealed underneath. Certain changes in the completely enveloping temperature induce the liquid crystal induce to twist and change their position, which results in the alteration of the wavelengths of light which falls and gets reflected by the crystal. Thus, the entire process changes the visible color of the gemstone. When worn, the Mood rings bear the body heat by getting in touch with the finger of the wearer finger and the heat is transferred directly to the liquid crystals which are in the stone. This makes the change of color of the stone while the temperature of the body changes.

The crystals present in Mood rings are generally fine-tuned to display an alleged neutral color at an intermediate human surface temperature, which is about 82?F. The famous pseudoscientific theory which is behind mood rings is that as emotional state of an individual changes with the body heat, thus the body temperature of an individual could be found by the mood ring, which in turn will also suggest the emotional state of that person.

Mood rings possess a thermo chromic element like a liquid crystal and changes color with the change in body temperature of an individual. Mood rings are always the great in starting a conversation wherever you wear them. It is delighting to look at the color of your mood ring changing with the change in temperature of your body.

Mood rings are very much in demand by different class of people in the world. One thing you must be clear about this ring is that, it is unable to give you an accurate detail of your emotional state, but the crystals were graduated with a delighting green or blue color at a normal resting peripheral temperature of the adults at 82?F. As the upper surface of the body temperature increases, which is due to some response of happiness and passion, the crystals change its color to reflect blue. When delighted or stressed, the flow of blood is directed away from the skin toward the internal organs, and hence the fingers get cooled, resulting in the change in the color of the crystals to reflect more yellow. During the winter or cold weather or in case the ring was damaged, you will get to see a dark gray or black stone which is unresponsive.

Mood ring was devised by Joshua Reynolds. Mood rings enjoyed great popularity in the 1970s and the popularity of the rings is still around various parts of the world. The stone present in the ring changes its color, purportedly due to the emotional state or mood of the wearer. The stone used in a mood ring is actually an empty glass or quartz shell filled with thermotropic liquid crystals. The modern day mood jewelry is generally built from a strip of liquid crystals with a coating to protect it. The crystals respond congruently to changes in the body temperature by twisting and thus indicate the mood of the wearer.
