Mood Swings

Mood swings come under the category of an extreme or rapid change in mood. They are generally connected with mood disorders. One of the major examples of Mood swings is bipolar disorder which is also known as manic depression and also an important factor in hyperactive or the hyperactive/inattentive ADHD. Some of the various other causes of mood swings are because of changes of hormones which in turn are capable of temporarily upset brain chemistry, such as, during PMS, perimenopause, pregnancy, menopause or puberty. As the hormones involved in the process normalize, these mood swings usually settle on their own.

At one moment and in the very next moment feelings are gleeful for a time and then all of a sudden the same feeling changes to something which is very much irritating and unbearable, with no such concrete reasons behind that. These type quickly changing emotions are nothing but the mood swings and for the Wender Utah Criteria for Adult ADD, these mood swings are one of the characteristics of Adult ADD. It is true that almost all people do experience a variety of moods on any specific day.

Adults having ADD appear to swing from different types of moods with more frequency and more energy. Their moods are subject to change from high spirits to depression within a very short span, may be within a few minutes.

Adults with ADD very often discuss about the periods of time during which they get a feeling of high energy and in the process they are able to finish different types of which were pending and wanting in response for months or weeks. At this period the mind is ripe with suitable plans and creative ideas and the mind permits to work hard with taking less sleep. It is also observed that most of these periods are often succeeded by periods of extreme fogginess and tiredness. It is seen that for some individuals these periods do last for days or even weeks but for others the change of mood occurs a number of times during a day.
Mood swings of ADD work within the life of some people. They might have jobs that gain from the creative ideas and highly energized moods which come very often from them. It is also believed that their family life helps them to achieve what they require during the period of their ups and downs in the course of their life times.

Mood swings which are based on the severity can also move into and influence your daily life and generate unnecessary tensions in the entire family and thus cause problems at work. It is not difficult to find a suitable solution to living and working with mood swings and people very often try successfully to get it. Sometimes the medication of ADHD provides assistance in the controlling of mood swings subsequently allowing the emotions to come at a more stable condition than before. At times, the technique to modify behavior is beneficial for individuals and this therapy has also assisted others to keep pace with the good and bad patches of like.
