Panic Attacks


Panic attacks are the sudden symptoms of fear showed by any individual or by a large number of people. This experience is one of the most fearful and also one of the most uncomfortable situations in a man's life. The periods of panic attacks are totally separate period when a people is feeling intense anxiety and illogical fear. The combined effect of anxiety and feeling of fear often cause discomfort in the body of the people who have come under the attack of panic. People show the symptoms of panic attacks very abruptly and these panic attacks may not have any obvious trigger to stimulate them. These sudden show of panic attacks may be seemed caused of no apparent reason or logic but recent studies have shown that these panic attacks have their origin to an evolutionary response which is commonly known as flight which occurred for the sudden flooding of the body with various kinds of hormones. At the time of panic attacks the body of the human beings generally fill up with adrenalin hormones. This hormone secreted by the glands of human body gives extra energy and also extra presence of mind to face any difficult situation.



American Psychological Association, a world famous association of psychologists, there are a few very distinct symptoms of panic attacks. Can stay almost 10 minutes. Though many psychologists opine that some kind of panic attack may stay be of very short duration. These attacks may go on for 1-5 minutes.
Panic attack may happen in a cyclic series of episodes. The panic attacks which are coming in cyclic orders may last for an extra period. The people suffering from panic attacks may also suffer from anticipatory anxiety in the period which comes much before actual attack of panic.

Reaction of the people to the panic attacks:
Those people who have suffered many panic attacks can very easily surmount these attacks by using their earlier experiences. They can easily ride out this uncomfortable situation by showing no perceptible sign of nervousness or very little sign of nervousness. Many people who are experiencing
this attack for the first time may have to ask for emergency help. They may fear that they are suffering from cardiac attack or any kind of heart related ailments. Some mistook panic attacks as nervous breakdown. But these two ailments are totally different and these two should not be put on the equal footing.

Panic disorder also has its hereditary basis which means that some kind of inheritance gene may play a major role to transform this special feature of any person from generation to generation. Though it has also been noticed that some people who have no family background of panic attacks have shown symbols of panic attacks in their behavior. Panic attacks may also occur in both of the twins. It has been perceived that when one of the twins has shown symbols of panic attacks the other also has suffered from the same kind of attack. The chance of becoming affected by panic attacks ranges between (31-88)%.
