Phobia List

Phobia list includes different types of phobias with which living beings suffer from. The word phobia is derived from the Greek word phobos and it is for this reason any word connected to or included in the Phobia list should be Greek. Actually Phobia list is formed by following some rule. The rule was broken several times in the past and basically within the medical profession which is engrossed in Latin and very often, when making a name for a phobia, they have searched into their stock of words in Latin and used them with Greek to form their names. There are various types of Phobias in the Phobia list as follows:

Ablutophobia ? This is a type of phobia which is seen generally in persons around the world. In this case the affected subject is afraid of water and would prefer to remain without taking bath for several days and also keeps his clothes untidy. The subject is always afraid of bathing and washing.

Christianophobia or Christophobia ? It is a negative unconditional prejudice against Christians or Christianity. Such type of bias and discrimination is a type of religious attitude and a form of religious favoritism.

Anti-Christian bias is held by groups or individuals.

Xenophobia ? Xenophobia is a type of fear or contempt of strangers or foreigners and people. It is derived from the Greek words xenos, meaning foreigner and stranger, and Phobos, meaning fear. The term is used to give an elaborate description of dislike or fear of foreigners or in general, different types of people.

Chemophobia ? This term means fear of chemicals and it may be used in various different ways. Most often, this word is used to describe the traditional assumption that natural things are good and chemicals are bad for us. The general use of the term, chemophobia is correspondent to homophobia which is a bias against something rather than an illogical fear.

Ephebiphobia ? This is a social and psychological fear of youth. The word ephebiphobia is derived from a Greek term called ephebos or underage adolescent, teenager and fobos or phobia, fear.

Agoraphobia ? Persons suffering from this type of Phobia do fear to be in an open space or in a crowded area. These types of people are very scared to be in public places like fairs, markets, etc. People who are affected by Agoraphobia will not like to leave a safe place easily and hence they are less interested in moving to different places.
