Anxiety Medications


Along with the rapid modernization of the society, life has become very fast. Work pressure has also increased to a considerable extent. It is the extreme work pressure that is often responsible for anxiety disorders in people. Anxiety disorders are grouped into several forms. Two types of treatment are there for anxiety disorders. One being the Anxiety medications, the other is specific psychological therapies. The latter is often referred to as ?Talk Therapy. The choice of anxiety treatment of course, depends on the physician?s preference and also on the intensity of the anxiety disorder.

As far as anxiety medication is concerned, often the anti-anxiety drugs are prescribed to the patients. But, before beginning the treatment, the doctors make a diagnostic evaluation. This is done to detect whether the symptoms are the result of anxiety disorder or not. However, it has to be kept in mind that a specific time is required before the anxiety medications start working. Unlike the past when the anti-anxiety drugs referred to as benzodiazepines were primarily given to cure anxiety disorders, nowadays we use several other drugs.



In the recent times, several drugs have been invented for treating anxiety disorders. Some of the anxiety medications include Pamelor, Lexapro, Elavil, and Desyrel Oral.
Pamelor is prescribed for relieving anxiety and tension. It also helps in treating mood problems like depression. Once you take this medicine, you will be able to sleep better and it really helps the patient since good sleeping is required for relieving anxiety. Pamelor is also known for uplifting the energy level. This is one of the popular Anxiety medications which belong to the tricyclic antidepressant group of medicines.

Elavil, belonging to the class of medications known as tricyclic antidepressants, also helps the anxiety disorder patients from getting out of their problems. This medicine also reduces tension and anxiety to a great extent. It affects the balance of neurotransmitters in human brain. Trazodone, belonging to the group of Desyrel Oral, is also used for treating the patients suffering from anxiety disorders. This is one of the widely used Anxiety medications which help in restoring serotonin in the brain.

Lexapro needs a special mention while dealing with anxiety medications. This is known as escitalopram oxalate in medical science. It offers significant relief from the problem of anxiety disorder. Lexapro improves the life of the anxiety disorder patients by relieving them from anxiety disorder to a great extent. It acts as the single-active isomer of Celexa (citalopram HBr). bOth of them are SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors).
